A country that is all too familiar
with pain and suffering under the Pol Pot regime back in the late 70s still
suffers much today. The country side is
scattered with tin shacks up on stilts and children playing around outside instead
of being in school and fields with bone thin cows that munch on dry dead
grass. How do people live this way for
years, for generations on end? You can’t
help but start asking questions as you drive along this desolate kingdom. God why? God, haven’t these people suffered enough, why can’t they have a
break? Then my thoughts begin to wonder
if God would redeem their situations if only they would turn back to Him. You can’t drive but a mile without seeing
some sort of Buddhist temple in the background or some other pagan wat (temple)
along the banks of the rivers. Would God
give them financial prosperity if they turned from their false gods and turned
to the true God who delights in His people and offers grace and mercy to the
outcast and down trodden?

During
my travels in Nicaragua, I got to see poverty on many different levels but for
whatever reason, this just seams different. Even as we stay in the capital, we see nice cars ie Lexus, Mercedes and
all sorts of Toyotas cruising around while also at the same time, every morning
I wake up to the sound of my neighbors who are across the river/trash dump,
building up their tin roofed, bamboo stilted house. I see the same woman most days along the side
of a busy road begging for hand outs as she carries her naked child, hoping to
make a buck or two. How would things be
different if God invaded this country? How would people treat each other? Would the same lady still be out on the side of the road, holding her
baby in hopes that people will have more pity on her and offer her money? Would the street children be in schools
learning to read instead of being on the streets learning to beg and swindle
foreigners for money.
God MAY
YOUR KINGDOM COME!! May You rule over
the hearts and minds of the people here. I want them to know the Love that You offer. I want them to know the HOPE that You
offer. I see despair and hopelessness in
their eyes. I want their tears turned
into laughter, I want their empty bellies to be filled with the Bread of Life,
and I want their impure water turned into STREAMS of LIVING WATER. Father, I feel Your heart beat for these
people and I know You want the same thing that I want, so I ask that YOU would
sweep through this Kingdom and turn it to YOU! Be GLORIFIED IN THIS PLACE!!!
