So its 3:45 in the afternoon and in my youth I was escaping
the school not so long ago but today I find myself sitting in a small school
room right next to my sleeping quarters, escaping the afternoon showers which
put a halt to our afternoon ministry in the barrios. This morning we went around the barrios of
Jenetepe, Nicargua having arrived just 2 days ago. It was only yesterday that we arrived at our
new house which is absolutely huge. The
ministry we are partnering with has rented out this huge house that they will
use to house ministry teams and use as a get away for local churches and also
as an area for the youth to not only play sports but to learn English and get
help with their homework. They are
hoping to develop a futebol field and a baseball diamond which I am looking
forward to helping out with the construction of both those. Upon our arrival yesterday we have already
had local kids come over and want to play futebol with us on the driveway which
is huge itself.
Already
I feel at such peace being here, the Spirit resides heavily on these grounds
and I am looking forward to being able to rest in the Peace that is here and
hear where the Spirit will guide not only myself but my team this month. We are incredibly blessed to be here and to
be with the locals that are here for they have a heart as big as Texas and a
spirit about them that you can’t help but love. Even as I type there are older youth and young adults playing futebol
outside and younger youth playing around the house, it brings such joy to my
heart to hear the sounds of children playing and enjoying life. We all can take a valuable lesson from
learning to listen to the sound of children doing what they do best…playing.
Tomorrow
morning we will get a chance to go around the barrios again and invite kids to
come in the afternoon to just come and play whether that is futebol or just
playing some random game that is made up on the spot. The Spirit is so alive at this place and in
our team, we will just be available to be used by Him and love on the kids who
don’t know the love of Christ.
