Currently in my life I am just praying up a storm before I head back out in September. I've been asking God where He wants this Squad to go, and man oh man has He been answering. There is so much that He has laid out on the table, and honestly when I first looked at all that He is promising my response was, "What the Hell! Haha there is no way I can make this happen. That's way too much, I simply have no idea how to bring this into fruition."
He simply said, "Exactly! And don't you forget it! For in your weakness my power is made perfect. You need me. This is so huge that there will be no mistake who is responsible for the miraculous things to come; I will get all the glory."
Touche God….touche.
But the main quick thing I want to touch on in this blog is the importance of actively waiting upon the Lord as a unified body bound in the bonds of peace produced by the Spirit of the Living God.
Simply put, we as a family have to wait for God to show up before we go out. If we don't leave with Christ then why even bother going out in the first place? The most important quality for a successful World Race team is the willingness to take risks, to step out in faith, to be saturated in prayer, and to rely on the Spirit's leading to talk to people about Christ.
Christ calls us farmers, and there is nothing haphazard about successful farming. Farmers pay close attention to the weather and plant and harvest at just the right time. They must be patient, acknowledging their dependence on the time and God's grace for fruitfulness. The wise farmer leaves little to chance, and the wise Christian should do the same when spreading the seed of the kingdom of God in the world. We must be covered in prayer and we must wait upon God.
Christ is the best example with how to actively wait and rely on the Lord, so needless to say I have been pouring over all four gospel accounts since getting back from Training Camp. As Christ waits and prays and worships the most beautiful things happen. Jesus always combined the proclamation of the kingdom of God with its demonstration (the casting out of demons, healing the sick, raising the dead, and so on). Scripture indicates that these gifts, these demonstrations of the kingdom, authenticate the gospel, cutting through people's resistance and drawing attention to the good news of Jesus Christ. But we must wait for Him, all glory must go to Him.
Every miraculous act has a purpose: "To confront people with His message that in Him the kingdom of God had come and that they had to decide to accept or reject it." (John Wimber)
Before the Apostles went out they always waited upon the Spirit of God to come over them. They prayed, they worshiped, and listened as they waited upon the Lord. This Squad will be as persistent in prayer as the woman was in going to the unjust judge. Worship will naturally flow out of my squad as it did with King David, for worship is the outward expression of wisdom, and it is inspired by the Lord. Then as we listen we will go as a unified family lead by the Spirit. And we can go in confidence for Christ's prayer is answered: "May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me" (John 17:23).
Like he told me in Vietnam, "I'm always talking Grayson, I just need somebody to listen."
