Yesterday was my first free day while in Malaysia, and it was wonderful. You know those old Asian drawings with mountains that appear to jet out of the ground from nowhere? Well our living area is surrounded by those types of mountains this month in Gua Musang, Malaysia. And inside these huge mountains are Giant Limestone Caves that you can explore! So, I went exploring inside these Limestone caves during my free day.
The entrance into the Limestone caves was pretty narrow… I called it the “Weight Watchers” entrance. I think you understand why I called it that.

Once inside it was absolutely beautiful (despite all the graffiti, which was really sad)! The ceilings had stalactites hanging everywhere, which was dangerous at times because I just wanted to look up and not watch where I was walking. We then had to climb up using a rope to get to the other pitch black parts of the cave.

Here are some pictures of us climbing up on top of cave cliffs, chilling under some cave formations, and crawling on the ground into tight spaces in order to advance further in to the darkness of the cave. (Obviously you can’t tell how dark it is because of the camera flash).

While walking through the caves Andrew kept looking down at the ground. I finally asked him and he said, “I’m trying to figure out what all these black dots are on the ground….Oh, I just figured out what they are…Bat poop.” Right then we just so happened to hear bat noises above us. I’m not going to lie to you, I freaked out quite a bit.
So after we explored for several hours and had numerous hilarious experiences we decided it was time to head back. While walking back we passed the Gua Musang train station, and that was when I heard the glorious noise of a ping pong ball. I walked into a room and saw some train station workers playing ping pong. Before I knew it I was playing doubles ping pong with the entire Gua Musang train station staff! We were playing some intense ping pong, and they would all laugh and make fun of their friends when I would beat them. (Finally, all the hours of playing ping pong in college has paid off!)

All in all, this free day is one to remember!
