After a tipping point on Sunday night, I realized that I was beginning to prioritize my team and their needs over my own self-care and devotion to the Lord. It was a moment I never hope to reach again, but it was a point I needed to reach in order to dive deeper into surrender and submission to the Lord.

A journal excerpt from October 1, 2018:

The care and nurture you give is NOT greater than the care and nurture you deserve from the Lord.

~Psalm 51:10b “renew a steadfast spirit within me”

My spirit is faltering as I try to take on the burden of caring for others on my own.

I am neglecting my own self-care and relationship with the Lord to take care of others. I’m not trusting God to take care of others or myself. I know He will take care of me If I Let Him.

I AM NOT STRONG ENOUGH ON MY OWN

**Submission in Surrender** – what does it mean to submit to the Lord??

~1 Timothy 2:11 “A woman should learn in quietness and full submission (to the Lord)

This verse is better for me taken out of context because its simple and to the point – for me to better learn about the Lord I need to find time to be still, be quiet, and submit/focus my whole self on Him.

Submission vs Surrender

Submission- recognition of higher authority; no resistance; meekness and obedience

Surrender – agreement to stop striving/resisting; giving control to someone else; recognizing defeat/weakness

~Hebrews 13:17 “Have confidence in and submit to your leaders.” Trust them, talk to them, they are here to serve you.

~James 4:7 “Submit yourselves to God! Resist the devil (and his pressure/lies) and he will flee from you.”

~James 4:2b “you do not have because you do not ask God”

Wow and ouch… In order to receive help, comfort, peace, care, etc., I must ASK FIRST! Don’t be afraid to ask!

~Matthew 7:7-8 Ask, seek, and knock constantly; pray persistently

He will provide  → ~Psalm 145:9 “The Lord is good to all; and His tender mercies are over all His works.”
