After my first month on the World Race, my squad had our first debrief in Baños, Ecuador. Debrief is a time to rest, reflect on our first month on the field, and set goals for our next few months.

Upon arriving in Baños, I was a bit overwhelmed because of the countless activities available; white water rafting, canyoning, zip lining, swings, thermal baths, the list goes on. There was so much I wanted to do, but I knew I had to 1) steward my money well and 2) REST

With the help of leadership’s structured morning schedule, I was able to spend time with the Lord during the mornings and adventure in the afternoons. Throughout the week I went biking around the city, zip lining, to a swing on top of a mountain, and white water rafting.

For a long time I’ve thought that I found the best rest in adventure (extrovert and adrenaline junkie things), but this week I realized I found it in the simple excursions and activities. Walking and biking around a new city, going on a swing, and spending time with a friend on a mountaintop. These little activities brought me the most peace, restored my energy, and reminded me of God’s beauty in the little things.

I don’t rest well being alone in my room, I don’t rest well in an extreme/adventure filled day, but in the in between, I find comfort.

**important note**

Everyone rests differently, and it takes time to figure out how you rest. Just because one person rests differently than you, does not mean that your way/form of rest is bad. The Lord fills our hearts and restores our souls in ways unique to us.

~Psalm 62:1 “truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him.”
