Song: Peace/Afio Mai by Link ——- https://youtu.be/uxti7euyKLU (I promise you’ll want to listen to it all, and if not, start at 4:50 and listen from there)
I was introduced to this song on the race and it has brought me SO MUCH comfort and reassurance in these hard times in Cambodia.
This week was another extremely hard one, but for completely different reasons.
•My leader and one of my teammates got Dengue Fever and we’re in the hospital for 7 days.
•One of my squad mates went home this week.
•Food poisoning has become a more common occurrence and it’s hitting almost everyone.
•Emotions are running high about going home and finishing the race.
•Our Adventures in Missions credit cards stopped working; aka we can’t access our money for food, transportation, etc.
The list goes on…
But as I was strung out mentally and physically while the week went on, the only thing I could think about when I got stressed was, “He promised peace.”
Suffering is not in the will of God for His people, so why do we still encounter it in day to day life? There is no short answer for this but here are my thoughts: once sin entered the world during the fall of man, there was no way to avoid suffering and sin anymore. Satan had his foothold, his access to earth, and could use his power wherever and whenever he wanted.
BUT we have a good God, even though we live in an evil world. He is our peace and our way out of suffering.
The song is simple, it says:
He never told me that it would be easy
He said “Suffering would come”
But He promised peace, peace, peace
So as I walk through the fear, anxiety, illness, and sadness that comes with life, I can rest assured that peace will come because it is promised to me, and my God doesn’t go back on His promises.
Alsooooo, here are some pictures of the sky this week that completely took my breath away.
“… the skies proclaim His handiwork”
~Psalm 19:1
