Wednesday June 24, 2018: graduation day. A day that I’ve been anticipating my entire life, a day that signifies the transition into “adulthood”, and a day where they forgot my speech in the podium binder. As a senior class officer I had to announce our graduation’s special guests sitting on and beside the stage, but when it was my turn to announce, the names weren’t there. In a panic I flipped through the binder hoping that the list was just hiding in the wrong place. Long story short: my speech was missing so I sat back down, then I went to the podium again to improve my “thank you, special guests, for coming to our graduation” speech and sat back down, I went back to the podium a THIRD time to read the few names I had from the program, and finally sat down until I walked across the stage and received my diploma. What a event it was!
All year, my friends and classmates have talked about college: where they’re going, what they’re studying, who they’re rooming with, what classes they’re taking, the list goes on. But finally the day comes when high school is officially over and college life begins. Personally, I couldn’t be happier with my choice to join the World Race, and I’m blessed that God has given me overwhelming peace over my decision. Although college, and the stress in preparation for it, is still in my future, I know that I will end up at the right school for the right reasons. As for now, I’m living one day at a time, and my first day as a high school graduate will be spent on long plane rides to my home in Germany.
For my friends seeking peace in this next chapter of life I give you this verse:
“Your God is present among you, a strong warrior there to save you. Happy to have you, he’ll calm you with His love and delight you with His songs.” Zephaniah 3:17
