As my time in Guatemala comes to a close, I’m reminiscing over the days of ministry here and the bitter-sweet goodbyes said on Friday. Here’s a peek into what my daily life in Guate has been like.
Class schedule: Monday-English /Tuesday-Art /Wednesday-Devotional /Friday-Sports
- 6:45 wake up (most days… sometimes it was 6:58)
- 7am breakfast
- Tuesday’s and Fridays 7:45 deep dive/bible study with Kevin (base elder)
- 8:45am leave for ministry
- 9:45am arrive at ministry
- 10-11:30am first class
- 11:30-1:30pm lunch and house visits to see friends in community and pray for them. Sometimes during lunch, Josefina (our ministry host) would make us homemade tortillas, beans, and guacamole. She really became a mama to us.
- 1:30-3pm second class (same as the first with different kids)
- 3:20pm leave ministry for home
- 4pm arrive home
- 5:30pm dinner
- 6:30/7pm team time
- 10pm quiet hours and bed time
Thursday’s are activation days. From 9-12ish, we are at the base where we live having worship and a teaching with the Adventures in Guatemala staff. After lunch, the teams go out to our villages, where we do weekly ministry, to listen to what the Lord has for us and go out and do it! We visit families and sometimes help out around the house. One of my favorite activation days was visiting our friend Gloria and picking coffee beans with her kids.
The pictures below are some of my favorite memories from ministry these last 3 months.
(Christmas show for our village, Bola de Oro) ^^
(Art day- we can make art from God’s art!) ^^
(House visit to insert Rosa’s (right) new stove and make/eat tortillas together) ^^
(Coffee picking with Gloria’s kiddos) ^^
(Making tortillas with Josefina during lunch) ^^
Thanks for reading!! Guatemala has been my favorite country on the race so far and has taught me SO SO SO much. I encourage everyone to visit at least once!
Many bendiciones,
Gracie J
