Well the title pretty much sums it up, my birthday was last week and I am living in Africa. I got to celebrate my birthday while surrounded by 50 of my brothers and sisters in Christ, living in the middle of nowhere Africa. I wake up every morning and walk out my door to see a beautiful mountain that actually is in the country of South Africa. wow wow wow.
When I say my team is the best I mean it! They woke up early and made me French toast with CHOCOLATE CHIPS, yes they found chocolate because they know how big my sweet tooth is. and not only that, they made a table out of two by four boards and seats out of cement blocks in a building that is going up down the road from us. They put a branch with weird yellow bulbs things in a Fanta bottle as a center piece and an airplane blanket over the table and scattered birthday notes from all my friends over the table. I meannnnn are they a blessing or what. Probably the best breakfast I have ever had, the work and thought they put into it filled my heart so much. Later that day a few of my friends and I got to go to our hosts home and get Wifi and AC and a laundry machine to wash our clothes! Y’all I can’t even explain what an amazing gift that was. I got to call my mom and my brother for the first time since I landed here in Africa a few weeks ago and I got to hang out with some friends, separate from the whole squad which can be overwhelming sometimes. My poor introverted heart cringes at it sometimes, even though I love them all to the moon and back. But we got Pepsi and chips which was so awesome, Its the little things lately that have been making my heart jump for joy. We got to talk a little about what are plans are for later this year once we get home and about our ministry and life back home, it was a special time. I got to play with their kiddos in their more than perfect yard. I mean when I say more than perfect, think of a huge yard full of sunlight with the shade of massive mango trees and a little baby pool and toys scattered about. But anyways, I got to be filled with the laughs and smiles of children enjoying life. I like to think that it was Gods way of showing me his beautiful creation. I went home that night overflowing with simple joy, joy of where I was at, who I was with, and who God created me to be. Joy in 19 years of life and fingers crossed many more to come.
