Month 6 ministry
So this month has been a crazy one and turned out nothing like I imagined it would. We thought we were living in the village for this month, teaching English at a local school, but the Lord had other plans. We ended up moving into Chiang Mai, Thailand and working with an organization called “ Free Burma Rangers”. Our team had the honor of getting to help out around the office and help advertise for their upcoming movie premiere and 5k run they are hosting. But man the biggest blessing that came from our ministry this month is the people the Lord put in our path.
FBR works in Burma, Iran, Syria, and where ever the Lord asks them to. They give medical care and support to internally displaced people groups. An IDP is someone who has fled their homes in order to avoid violence. In the case of the people of Burma, they are running from War. Burma has been in a civil war for many years now and many have had to leave their villages behind in order to save their families and their own lives. FBR trains and supports teams of medics, volunteers, and locals. The teach them how to document and keep record of what is happening in the world around them, medical skills to serve their villages, and stand with the people in whatever challenges arise.
Man I am not sure how to accurately explain how selflessness and humility these men and women walk in. They taught me what honor looks like, they taught me what faith looks like, and they taught me what loving others looks like in a whole new way. They gentle lead our team and pointed us to the Lord everyday. Leaving this month I have a new sense of passion and drive.
Luke 4:18-19
“the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind,to set at liberty to those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lords favor.”
Wow, the Lord is powerful and works miracles and wonders in this world! How amazing is that! It has been so special to spend 3 months of my race here in Asia working with the people of Burma and diving into their culture. It has been really really hard and challenging, but so good. To be a witness to the work he is doing here through these people! In Burma, Thailand, and across the world!
