My deepest apologies. The good God of Heaven and Earth has rocked my world the past two months, and I only have so many words to try to explain it all.
I sat with 2 of my fellow southern belle squad mates, Alex on the floor, Caroline on Leah’s bunk, and me on mine. Fuzzy socks were on, jokes were being told, and stories about our “bapti-costal” upbringing were shared. The more we shared, the more frustrated we became. What started out as lighthearted jokes about hand raising rules, cran- grape juice communion, and food lures on Wednesday nights turned into an angry discussion about the watered down power of God we’d believed our entire lives.
We as a western culture ignore the spiritual because it’s sketchy. Let me tell ya something friends, its wading through the sketchy that you find Jesus. It makes no sense that we put all of our hope that a man who lived and died THOUSANDS of years ago was actually not lying and was fully God and fully man sent to save us by dying and then COMING BACK TO LIFE. That is SO sketchy- but it’s true!! It’s stepping out into the sketchy waters with eyes looking for Jesus is that we find faith and truth.
We as the body can no longer settle for lukewarm faith, the kind that only trusts what’s right in front of us and doesn’t give God credit that he can and WILL raise people from the dead in 2018, that says that tongues are a scam, and modern medicine is the only healing that happens today. NO!!! Jesus HIMSELF says that we will do even greater works in his name!!! WHAT, EVEN GREATER?! how what huh?
How has not a single Sunday sermon, bible study, or church camp taught me to trust that the Lord will deliver on these promises?
The devil doesn’t need us to be disobedient and belligerent towards God, he is perfectly satisfied by neutrality. He WINS when we settle for half heartedness or half of God’s best for us.
One of my squad leaders once said that she personally believes that the reason we don’t see many demon possessions in the good ole USA is because we’re already so distracted and possessed by wealth and success that the devil doesn’t need to waste his time. That’s pretty embarrassing.
So I, Gracie Davis, being of sound mind, unbrainwashed or deceived, having put everything I hold true to scripture, believe the following:
A couple thousand years ago a baby was born from a woman who still held her virginity, and he was completely God and completely man. That sweet Jesus man grew up sinlessly and was slaughtered on a tree on a hill because his Father was desperate to be reconciled with his most disobedient creation, and sent his son to suffer wrath in our place.
The Lord has full communion with everyone who has the Holy Spirit. To believe contrary is to think that man just guessed God’s will when writing the Bible.
All Christians contain the authority to cast out demons, heal, and ask for the spiritual gifts in the name of Jesus.
My generation of Christ followers will do even greater works than Jesus did during his three year ministry on Earth because he said we would.
God listens, and answers.
People still get visions and prophetic dreams from the Lord in 2018.
People are raised from the dead in 2018.
Miraculous healings happen outside of the hospital in 2018.
Crazy bold prayers get crazy bold answers in 2018.
I will see miracles in Africa over the next three months, this I have been promised.
I don’t know what Ethiopia has in store for my brothers and sisters and I, but I feel a war coming. The gates of hell are shaking because the Kingdom of God is about to grow and change and the enemy is not happy about it. Please pray the full armor of God over my squad. Pray that lies don’t settle in our ears, and burdens don’t weigh on our shoulders. Pray fear out of our hearts. Pray truth, dignity, boldness, love.
