If you know me, you know I love change. I love beginnings. The potential that something brand new holds. There is few things that make me this excited. SO, the new year is treating me oh so well.
Another thing I LOVE is new years resolutions. I make somewhere around 25. and stick to at least 3. HA!
This year was no different. I hitch-hiked to a coffee shop a few miles away from the farm. Sat down. Opened my journal. And started writing down all the things I want to do better. The things I want to start. The things I want to stop. Dreams- big and small. Funny things and things very near to my heart.
One of the very first things I wrote down was “Don’t forget about old friends”.
Immediately I called one of my friends from home. Savannah Pierce. And we talked. And laughed. And cried. And caught each other up. In an instant— a million reasons flooded back to my mind about why I loved her. Why she is one of my dearest friends.
The little smile lines she gets around her mouth when she laughs.
How she loves with every ounce of her being.
How we make the smallest moments the most important.
Her loyalty and commitment to a friendship. To our friendship.
But most of all I love that I’ve been away for 5 months and time hasn’t changed a thing.
She is constant. She has so many qualities of the Father in her.
I’m writing this to mainly to say—
- Pray for your friends. Give your friendships to the father. And man He will blow them out of the park.
- This is a new year. New beginnings. Call her. Call him. Call that friend you need to forgive. Or the one who haven’t talked to in forever. Begin again.
- The year is new. Full of potential. Give it all to God. And watch Him work His wonders. Life is so much sweeter when it’s His plan unfolding, rather than your own.
