Guys, I’m in COLOMBIA! We made it safe & sound and have just finished Day 2 of our training camp. These past two days have been so full of vulnerability and growth, I’m SO stoked to see what the Lord has planned for us this next week and a half, and then on through these next 11 months. It’s going to be craaazzyyyyy.
So, TODAY. We spent our afternoon going on a “treasure hunt”. Our team of split up into smaller groups to hit the streets and find who the Lord wanted our team to speak life and love into.. that person would be out “treasure”.
To find this person, we began by taking 5 minutes to pray for the Lord to give us 5 things: a person, a place, a thing, a color, and an ailment. After 5 minutes, we all shared what the Lord revealed to us, whether it was specific, broad, or nothing at all. These things would be used as our “treasure map”. This is what my team’s map looked like:
Person: a middle-aged man, an elderly woman, and the name Rojalio (..but that’s just the name of a tv show character, so we didn’t take it too seriously)
Place: walking outside to the left and then taking a right by the community pool, a slide
Thing: a shoe with no foot, stretching
Color: vibrant/bright, green, light blue
Ailment: nothing
It all seems so random…but we ran with it.
First, we followed the directions we were given about starting out to the left and then taking a right. When we got there, we saw a huge billboard in front of a bright green field. On that billboard was a half-circle of kids stretching before a soccer game, one kid had his shoes off and they were in the middle of the circle! Shoes with no feet!! We were right next to a park, so we decided to walk in and see what came next. The trail we were on led straight to some slides, and to our right was a little stand where a middle-aged man and an older lady (wearing a light blue shirt!!) were selling some pastries.
WE FOUND THEM!
It was insane how quickly and easily we found our people, seriously, it took 15 minutes. We went up and, after buying some of their food, asked them if they knew Jesus. The man said that they did. We ended up praying healing over this man and his father before departing and trying to figure out what to do with the rest of our hour. (Oh, we asked his name.. it wasn’t Rojalio, but that’s alright.. haha!)
We walked around the park, thanking God for his clarity, praying peace over the park for it to be a safe haven for those in the community, and then just enjoyed our time as a small team…jokingly looking for Rojalio. (We never found him).
We debriefed with the other teams, and they had some super exciting stories as well! There was one team where every member got something different – everyone saws a different type of person, different color, etc.. but what ended up happening was they each saw a different member of the same family – how rad?!
I absolutely LOVE my team. We’re all so different, but connect with each other in the most unique ways. At the end of training camp we’re going to be split up into our smaller groups for each country, and when I look around the room, I just think about how I’d be honored to be on a team with any of them. <3
