Life has been super busy, and I haven’t blogged in a while! I wanted to catch my blog up with all that has been happening. Soooo yes, we made it to Costa Rica! But before that, my Mom, Dad, Stepdad, and Stepmom ALL came and visited me for a week in India. It was overwhelming and crazy, but it was worth it. They got to see how I have been living the past 7 months, and they were able to even go to some of the ministries we had been involved with. If any of us were told even a year ago that we would all be in India together, we would have laughed in your face. So yes, very much a God thing. The day after my parents left, we said goodbye to our friends and began a four day long travel day to Costa Rica. We were able to see the Taj Mahal and Times Square in NYC! (And even a little bit of Russia). It was a really cool time, and it was also exciting to get a taste of how ministry will be like once I move back to America. I have a new appreciation for being able to speak the same language as someone else. Now, for Costa Rica. We are in a big city here, and life looks a lot different than it used to. Our ministry here is different just about every day. One day a week we volunteer at a church that houses people in the community needing protection from gangs or other violence. We are going to be helping the pastor with whatever they may need, wether that be English lessons or building a local skatepark! Who knows! The next three days, we teach conversational English with a few of our friends age 15-27. Each day we hike up to our meeting place, and we sit and talk while also helping them grow their English skills. We just met them three days ago, but I already feel so close to each of them. Also, on Friday mornings, we attend the local Zumba class with the women in the community! It is so much fun and such a blessing to be able to befriend the women here in this way. My mind continues to be blown that we are already in our last country, and only have less than three months left before going home. I am so thankful for all God has brought me through and for where He has gotten me. So much has happened, and what I post on my blog doesn’t even start to sum it all up! All I can say is God is good and real and working– both here and in Thailand, Malaysia, India, and the USA. (and everywhere else)
UPDATE:::
So we found out yesterday (before I got internet to post this blog) that Adventures in Missions is actually pulling all squads off the field and sending them back to the United States due to the spread of COVID-19 in Central America. So this time next week I will be home. I am still processing leaving the race two months early, and don’t have much to say other than it is very sudden and somewhat bittersweet. Please be praying for my squad and I as we transition back into the USA. I will also say I am so thankful for my time in Costa Rica, even though it was cut short! I am so blessed to still have been able to be a part of each ministry. The last three sentences of the paragraph above are still true, God is still good, and His plan is still perfect. Thank you all SO much for all of the support and prayer along this unique journey, it truly means the world to me. But now, on to the next one!
