Hope House is a hospice, nursing home, recovery center thing. It’s just a lot of things.
Anyway I went there on most Tues, Thurs, and Fri mornings for the last month and a half. I can be a difficult place to go. But it’s a good place to go.
I went to visit Dave. I also met a boy named Menzi.
Now at first I didn’t think Dave would care if we were there or not. He’s kinda old and can get a little grumpy.
And also Menzi seemed scared of us. I remember trying to walk up to him, and him walking away.
But in the end I was so sad I wasn’t able to go to Hope House the last day. And Courtney told me Dave cried when they had to go. What a change some time makes!
And the day before the last day I was able to hang out with Menzi. He wasn’t scared. I pushed him around in one of the wheelchairs not being used. I told him goodbye and got some high fives. He was waving as the bus drove away.
It’s amazing how much changed in such a short time just because we kept going and caring. I love how good relationships form even when they seem unlikely or even impossible.
Much love!
