Since I love food and I’ve eaten it a lot on the race, I thought it would be a cool idea to give you a glimpse of what meals have looked like for the first two months of my race, India and Nepal!
We’ll start with India! I don’t take pictures of every meal, but these are a few to give you an idea. Also note that we lived on $4.
Breakfast
Lunch
Dinner
All the rice! Rice with vegetables, rice biryani, rice and potatoes, rice cakes, rice curry, rice and lentils, rice and peanuts, savory rice, sweet rice, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. I’ve never had this much rice in my entire life and at first it was difficult like really difficult, rice for breakfast….are you kidding me? But it grows on you, plus rice wasn’t as popular in Nepal, thank goodness!
Bonus Picture: DESSERT
So dessert isn’t really a thing in India, in fact eating sweets at all isn’t really a thing. If dessert were considered a meal though, it would be my favorite! So you better believe that when I saw sizzling brownie on the menu at a local coffee shop, I couldn’t resist, I mean brownies are my favorite dessert.
Now on to Nepali food…words cannot express how good the food was in Nepal! Not to mention we had $5 a day to live off of and the exchange rate is essentially $1 to 100 rupees. Please note that I only took pictures of the good food that I ate, the food that I splurged on. I left out the many many pictures of ramen noodles that I ate at the house to afford these meals!!
Breakfast
Lemon Sugar Pancake eaten on the top of a mountain.
Lunch
No, naan is not the only thing that I ate for lunch in Nepal but we found a place that served it for 30 cents…so maybe I went there a lot.
Dinner
And sometimes you just need good ole Pizza Hut.
Dessert
Pazookie in Nepal, who woulda thought?
So there it is, essentially 2 months worth of food! And it was delicious!! I can’t wait to show you some of things I’ve eaten in Thailand, but we’ll save that for another blog! Until then, ciao!!
