By now most of you have heard the testimony of me deciding to go on this trip. But just in case you haven’t, here’s a long story short: I felt God calling me to this trip but was also excepted to my first choice college. I was torn between them and couldn’t decide which path to take. ultimately I chose the Gap year trip because I felt God telling me that this is what he has called me to do and that this is where He wants me. In all reality you guys have heard me talk about how God has called me to this about a million times now so, I’ve came up with three reasons to be sent on this trip beside “God called me to”

the first reason is Education. See, I can go to college and learn loads of things. I’ll learn more math skills, Language arts, maybe a bit of anatomy, and so on and so forth. Or I can go learn two new languages first hand, experience new cultures, and learn to calculate different currency.  There is so much more to learn and this is where I want to start.

the second reason is the rad stories. I want to be able to tell some amazing stories one day and I would rather them be how my team dealt with the inconvenient things or the awe worthy things we experienced rather than how I did homework every night and never really had a chance to share Christ with anyone.

The third reason is the most important: Paul and Silas. Most of us have heard the story of Paul and Silas in prison, the earth quaking and their cell breaking open But how many of us have read the whole story? If you keep reading you’ll find that Paul and Silas didn’t escape. (Acts 16:25-31) As they were sitting in their cell they saw that the Jailer was gonna kill himself because he thought they had escaped. when Paul and Silas saw this they yelled “Don’t harm yourself! we are all here!” After that they shared Christ with the jailer. That night the Jailer not only came to Christ but released Paul and Silas. My point here is that the men could have easily escaped and gotten a good distance away before anyone realized they were actually gone. But instead they risked their lives to stay and share Christ with just one person. When I go on this mission, if share Christ with even just one person then everything it took to get there will all be worth it.

“I have learned that I can not change the world, Jesus will do that. I can, however, change the world for one person. so if that one person sees the love of Christ in me, it is worth every minute.” -Katie Davis
