The Fathers’ Love
In the last blog, I told you of how I met a man in a coffee shop. What you don’t know is that man turned out to be the biggest blessing to our team while we were in Malaysia. He took us around the town whenever we wanted, made sure we were always safe, showed us the best food, and just helped us in any way that he could. I don’t even have the right words to describe how much he meant to us.
He loved making us smile. One day in particular, he took us all to Starbucks. We sat talking about life, but he sat looking around the room. He saw the mugs on the wall, and he asked us to pick out a few for a “raffle.” He saw that one of the girls really liked the black and white starbucks shirt, so he got that too. That night we drew numbers to see who would be the lucky person. We laughed tho, because there were six cups… so each of us would end up getting a mug… the raffle would just determine who got which one. He just watched us and smiled. He would tell us, “I just love to see you all having fun. It makes my heart so glad.”
Another day, he took us to a restaurant where we had reservations. We walked in to this beautifully set table full of food. It was a banquet, really. We were served some of the finest Malaysian food. This had special meaning to me, because growing up I had always seen other girls get to go to Dad and Daughter banquets at their church or school. I always felt really sad because I never got to go, but I always wanted to know what that felt like. As I was pulling back the chair to sit and eat at the feast I thought to myself, I bet this is what it felt like to go to one of those banquets.
God wanted to teach me a few things about Himself in Malaysia, and He used this man to do it. He wanted me to learn that He thinks good thoughts toward me (Jeremiah 29:11)… He watches me and just smiles. He does things just to see me smile. He really wants the best for me. He takes people off the street and gives them banquets. He wants me to sit at his table and feast. He wants me to live in the abundance of His blessing simply because I’m His child. This is what it feels like, to feel the Father’s Love.
