by. When I was accepted in early
September I thought, “I have almost a year to get ready to leave, that’s so
much time”. Well what was once a year has
turned into months and now only days and weeks until I leave for training camp
and then launching in July. Training camp
is less than two days away and this week has been filled with preparation and
reflection on what is about to come. Today
it is finally starting to hit me that I’ll soon be leaving for 11 months…
packing up everything I’ll need in a backpack and leaving the place that I have
called my home for the past 24 years for the total unknown, both scary and
exciting. Tonight I sat in my room
trying to figure out how to pack everything in a backpack for 10 days…wondering
how it will even be possible for 11 months.
starting to come together. I recently
bought some boxers that advertise “one pair for six weeks”. I bought international travelers insurance
that covers life-flight out of whatever country we are in and helicopter
rescue, a little crazy when you think about it.
filled with questions about what is to come, “can I get contact solution in
Africa?” and “will I really have to eat beans all year?” “What about Christmas away from my family for
the first time in 24 years?” “What is
coming home going to be like?” All these
what-ifs are spinning in my mind. But I shouldn’t
be worried about what is to come. God
has me on this path for a reason and I’m excited for what He is going to send
my way of the next year.
next 10 days (21st-29th) while we train and prepare for what is to come.
fundraising: There is a deadline on May
21st. This deadline is to
have $3500 raised. No need to worry,
because my account currently says $6,400!
I’m almost half way funded!
supporting me. Sponsor me by donating monthly during the 11 months, you can do
this under the “support me” tab on the left. This will help me
greatly, and remind you every month to pray for this team.
the next few weeks, a lot is about to happen over the next 10 days and
month.
