Meet Grace.
She is a precocious ten year old, who befriended
us last week at the New Wine conference. We had all been struggling a bit with
the change of pace-from leading fun, hyperactive kids to working like busy
bees, washing heaps of dishes and keeping a smile on our face, no matter how we
were feeling, how much our feet hurt, or how early we had to get up (6:30am!!).

My prayer has been that God would give me grace to make it
through each day, even when we had conflicts on our Kitchen Crew, or couldn’t
perform up the standards the conference attendees were expecting. I prayed for
grace to love those I was having a hard time loving, and to have God’s eyes for
whatever challenges lay ahead.

Boy, did God surprise me. He gave me His grace, but He also
gave us Grace. Joy overflowed her, she readily loved each of us, and thought we
were super keen. It revitalized my spirit, every lunch and dinner when she
bounded in with hugs and promises to follow us around the world. It opened my
eyes and challenged me to have the love and trust of a child, for everyone I
encountered.

Grace brought us grace, and God used her to inspire us to
serve last week. By having a personal encounter with an amazing daughter of
God, we each worked harder, wanting to honor Him by serving those He put in our
path.  I am very thankful for Grace, and
for grace. It was only by God’s grace that we got through last week’s
physically exhausting week, and because of our weakness, God made us strong.

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for
my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more
gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. –2
