(This is part 3 of a series. Read Part 1 Here and Part 2 Here)
Identity is important. Who we are is important to us. And the latest
is to not be defined by what you do, but who you are-what your character is.
One of the teachings that has rocked my world since this adventure
began was my identity in Christ. It may sound cliché, but I didn’t really know
what it meant to be a child of God. I knew that was my identity, but I didn’t
know there was power connected to that, that I am not only adopted into the
kingdom of God but I am also made a true daughter and an heir to the kingdom.
An heir to the kingdom of God? Equipped with the same power that raised Jesus
from the dead? What? WHAT?!?
He made us in His image. So who am I?

I am a beloved, chosen daughter of the King. God is
proud of me. I am a saint. I am a slave to righteousness. I am reconciled to God and
an ambassador of reconciliation. I am Christ‘s
friend. I am a temple and a dwelling place of God. I
am an heir of God since I am a child of God.
I am chosen by God, wholly and dearly loved.
I am a member of a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people
for God‘s own possession.
There are more, but these are my favorites.
Do you know who you are?
There is power in our identity. There is power in
knowing who we are in Christ. I was going to write this blog in Tanzania, but
ran out of time. In Uganda, I got lazy and forgot who I was. At the Awakening
last week, God reminded me. He reminded me of his love. He reminded me I don’t
have to do anything to earn his love. He reminded me that he is proud of me.
That he looks down from heaven and says, “There’s my baby girl, going off to do
great things in my name.”
Now I know who I am. I may forget again…we humans tend to do that. But
I know, and I will walk in it, I will claim it, I will take hold of my
inheritance and bring kingdom to earth.
In Uganda, it was my turn to speak at a church. God told me, “Tell
them who they are.” So I did. There is EMPOWERMENT in our identity. To know we
hold the keys to the kingdom, and can bring heaven to earth, because of who God
says we are and what He gives us. It’s crazy. It’s controversial. But I believe
it, and I want to do it.
I want YOU to know who you are. To
know you are beautiful and lovely and worthy
of love. To know God delights in you. To
know He is singing over you. To know who you are and who He is so you
can claim your inheritance.
It’s a crazy, beautiful thing.
