How many people can you fit in a vehicle? I have been in tight quarters in cars before but here in Ecuador there is a whole other meaning to the word tight fit. We have been doing some traveling here and there to towns near Portoviejo, and the every time we go somewhere new we add more people to our already crammed car. You get to know people really well that way, though. It is an adventure to see if we are going to fit.

After Manta, we went to a small community on the Pacific Ocean called Puerto Cayo. We worked with a small church that is currently meeting in what looks like a house and it is very small. They are hoping to have the building done in a couple of years. We helped smooth dirt and stack it for the concrete that will get poured at a later date. We also visited with the families in the church and worshipped with them. We spent the night in our tents on the beach. It was so cool to fall asleep with the ocean in the background.
We left to go back to Portoviejo and took water to the community in the garbage dumps. This deserves its own blog, so more on that later. It has been a full first week of ministry and from a spiritual standpoint our team has been challenged not just to go around and do a bunch of good things, but at the same time continue to spend time with our Heavenly Father and listen for how the Spirit is moving.
