My last blog entry was written during training camp, so I’m going to back track a bit to talk about my squad and my team. At training camp, the “W” squad met face to face. These men and women are amazing, each seeking after God with their whole hearts! It is amazing to me how much love you can feel for a group of people that you have only met in person once. There are about 60 of us total and we are heading out tomorrow and Wednesday. Destination: Ecuador!
Once we get to Ecuador our squad will head to different destinations with our teams. There are seven of us and we are Team Lamplighters – Nathan, Jenna, Sean, Nick, Allison, and Rikki Lynn. These six great people are going to be my family for the next 11 months and I am excited to serve and grow in Christ alongside them. As a side note: to find out what our team name signifies check out one of my teammate’s blogs allisonprysianzny.theworldrace.org/?filename=the-story-behind-the-name. She tells it better and in a much more entertaining way then I could. We will be in Portoviejo, Ecuador working with Templo Metropoliano, Garbage Dump Ministries. I have no idea what to expect, but I am asking God for an open heart and teachable spirit.
Please cover the “W” squad and my team in your prayers as we get ready to leave. One of the Scriptures that I have been praying over my squad since January is from 1 Peter 4:7-11:
Therefore be clear minded and self-controlled so that you can pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.
