POWER
and PURPOSE in a Name
And
that is exactly what landed our team on Lionheart. We wanted our team name to
be an indicator of what this year was going to look like and a reminder of who
we are. Without a doubt, there will be difficult times ahead – our team name
will remind us to push through, and the name of Jesus Christ will be our battle
cry. For it is for freedom He’s set us free.
What
does it mean?
(Shannon, our team leader, shared this during our commissioning service the
last night of training camp.)
Definition:
extraordinarily courageous. Possessing or displaying great courage; able to
face and deal with danger or fear without flinching.
When a
lion wants to take back territory that is controlled by another male lion, they
have a stare down. The first person to flinch is the loser. Sometimes these
stare downs turn into physical fights, and they are known to even end in the
death of one of the lions.
This
“mini story” still gets me every time I think about it! WOW! The enemy better watch out because here we come! 🙂
Declarations (Each team member spoke a
declaration during our commissioning service. Here are a few that we’ve shared
and a few additional ones that I believe for our team. Fellow teammates, if you’re
reading this, feel free to post more!)
I am
bold.
I am
worthy. I am free.
I am a
truthteller.
I will
release the captives in the name of Jesus.
I will
fan the flame.
The
Lion of Judah – Christ – lives in me!
I am
dauntless.
I love God with all my heart, soul, mind and strength, and my neighbor as
myself.
I will
love with the fierce intensity of Christ.
I will
not be silent.
I will ROAR!
