Four F’s for Four Days.
A blog series to give you a look at life and ministry in Honduras for
November.

F#2 – Fiesta a la Finca.

Last month, two teams from our squad were here so we are continuing a lot of what they started. The teams before us had planned a huge carnival-type party for the El Horno community at the farm our first Saturday. We took two days to plan and prayed hard that people would even show up. WOW did they show up – from the teeny-tiny babies to the elders (my favorite is an older man named Toro, he wears a cowboy hat and likes to smile).

Our agenda:
2:00 (well it was supposed to start at 2:00… but we’re on Honduran time so…) 2:30 Opening prayer and LIMBO! (contests for kids, teens and then adults!)
3:00 Stations: Tag or Duck Duck Goose

3:30 Pinatas (kiddos and then teens)
4:00 Stations: Cupcake walk or Musical Chairs

4:30 Grand Finale Cake Walk (we gave away three cakes)

LiMBO!

TAG! Dustin (Team Crash of Love) on the chase!

Christopher and Lauren (on of our squad leaders).

Chelsea (my teammate) ended up having a face painting during the ENTIRE carnival. The kids LOVED it! (Plus she is really talented!)

Chelsea at her finest.

When we walked down to the school for English class the next week it was almost difficult to recognize some of the kids without their facepaint (I just imagined little rainbows and hearts on their cheeks).

The fiesta was a great way to meet the community (they had just said goodbye to the two previous teams) and continue to build/establish trust. We’ll be having church on the farm for the next several Sundays (pray for us!) and hosting Saturday community events.
