Trust – noun. a firm belief in the strength of someone.

We are on a new message series at church called, Five Things God Uses to Grow Your Faith.  Andy Stanley begins by saying…
“Imagine for a moment that you had absolute, perfect faith and confidence in God – in a personal God who knew your name and always heard your prayers. Even when life was rocky and things weren’t going your way, even when circumstances only got worse. Imagine if the natural response in your mind and heart would be, God’s in control; he’s going to work this out; and he has a perfect plan for my life. So, I’ll wait patiently and see what he has in store for me”.

Angie Smith in What Women Fear says, "Mistrust is the root of disbelief towards God. It means that we have a false picture of God in our hearts. Sin entered the world when Adam and Eve wondered if God really had their best interest in mind. Because they listened to the lie spoken by Satan in Genesis 3: 1; he was able to convince them that they might be staking their life on a false or misunderstood claim. God says He is good . . . is He? He tells you He has your best in mind . . . does He? He boasts that he is almighty, all-knowing, all together trustworthy . . . is He? God has been working with us on this trust issue ever since. His desire is to draw us into a relationship built around our absolute, perfect confidence in Him." So far, my World Race journey has been a test of trust.

I was given a chance to put my faith and trust in action when I applied for the World Race. When I first saw that I would have to raise $15,500 dollars in order to go on this yearlong mission, I freaked! My first thought was I can’t go, how am I going to raise all this money? I don’t know any of the languages and I really don’t have anything to contribute. I felt inadequate in every way. But I decided that I was not going to live out of fear and that I would join God in whatever He was working on. Besides being full of myself never worked for me, so I was going to take a leap of faith and focus on God for once in my life. When I got accepted to be on the World Race, I told God “You called me on mission. I’m going to trust you to provide the funds and everything else”

“You called me on mission. I’m going to trust you to provide the funds and everything else”

And let me tell you, God is providing! I have a lot of friends who have walked with me and have supported me from the beginning of this endeavor. AND, I’ve had friends of friends, people I have never even met, donating to my mission! God is blowing me away thus far. I’m believing God to provide for every single penny and for everything else that I will need to go on this journey.

I’m going to trust Him even when I can’t see his hand in my life. Even when a lot of people still think I’m crazy.
