This may be something that I repeat often, but I really do mean it every time “This is my favorite month,” I love Ukraine.
So far I have gotten the chance to see the capital city Kyiv, the city on the Black Sea–Odessa, and spend sometime in a small village, whose name I don’t know, away from all distractions.
We spent our first week of ministry in Odessa reaching out to people we would pass on the streets. Our goal: get people to come to English Club, which is a club that the church we are working with has once a week, but while they had us to help we had it three times in one week.
English Club is a lot of fun and each night they had a different theme planned and different discussions and games throughout the night would be on what ever the theme was. One night we did the Wild Wild West where we played a speaking version of the Oregon Trail and I got to teach a bunch of Ukrainians ‘Home, Home On the Range.’
Out in the village life was so peaceful and the landscape was so beautiful. Us girls had the privilege of staying in a little house with three small rooms and my bed here was way too small for me, I was unable to stretch out and had to sleep curled up in a small ball every night.
Our ministry here was pretty slow we just did a few small things of manual labor and some hanging out with the kids for the short time we were there. But the people in this village were so amazing and it was really hard to leave them. We were also spoiled hard core with the food we had there, the woman that was cooking for us was an amazing cook and it is definitely the best I have eaten this entire trip, she fattened us all up quite well.
