hi friends and family! I am alive and well, and honestly thriving out here in Nsoko. Here are some details about what I am actually doing here in Africa, since I wasn’t able to give a whole lot of information before the trip!!
I am on a team with 13 other people, the youngest being 18 and the oldest being my leader, at 25. 3 boys and 10 girls. the best part is, the girls refuse to seperate into two rooms because we all love eachother so much, so we all have a giant sleepover every night. they are super intentional and all love me far more than I deserve. some of my favorite moments of my life have happened standing alongside my new family.
Because you are on this page reading my blog, you probably already know that I am on this trip with Adventures in Missions. AIM is a nonprofit based out of Gainesville, Georgia. They send out missionaries all over the world through the World Race, and Semesters programs. If you have never heard of it, I would consider looking into it, because this organization is incredible and I will forever support them. AIM has a base in Nsoko, which is where we are staying. The base has a few buildings and offices, as well as housing for racers. Some of the AIM staff over here are in charge of carepoints, different ministries, as well as partnering with the community to help raise up leaders.
We have been blessed to get to know the Spregg family, and spend a lot of time with them. they are on staff at AIM and have been missionaries in Nsoko for five years now. they have four beautiful kids who we love so dearly! Mondays are our days devoted to spending time with their family, and getting to love on them. The girls get together and the guys have their own time together. they pour into us and encourage our spirits so well!!
our most common ministry throughout the week is reaching our carepoint. these carepoints are places where children are allowed to come after school to eat a meal, run out some energy, and learn about Gods love. tuesday through friday mornings we head to our carepoint, which is around a 15 minute walk from our house. we can’t arrive to our destination without stopping for millions of hugs. once we arrive, we spend hours loving on, serving, and feeding any child who walks through the gate. these sweet babes range from the ages of 1-18. our shepherd Gabi, (translator and friend) as well as the incredible cooks, all spend their afternoons volunteering here. we spend our weeks serving them and loving on them in any way we possibly can!
Around once or twice a week we complete a home visit. Its around two weeks in, and we did the first one the day I am writing this. we bring empty water jugs to give and sometimes new pairs of shoes from AIM. We visit different homesteads and normally the people let us in, and we have the chance to get to pray over their home and against any illness that may be present. this is such an incredible way for us to really see the way of life and really get to dive into the culture around us.
I love this place with all of my heart and what I have gotten to be apart of. please continue to pray for my team as we will continue to serve this country for the next few weeks, and then head out for a new adventure in South Africa! hugs back home!!
