The other day I posted a blog about some really awesome things going on here within S Squad. We concluded our postsecret nights with a night of prayer and repentance. It was beautiful. We talked about what it meant to be ‘a new creation.’ We went through scripture. Here are the truths that were spoken over each of us and I would love to speak over each of you.
You are sons and daughters. Ephesians 1:4-5
You are cleansed, holy, blameless and without fault. Ephesians 5:26-27
Your sinful nature is dead. Romans 6; Galatians 2:20
You are a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17
You are cleansed by the power of Jesus’ blood. Hebrews 9:14; Hebrews 10:19-22
You are purified of all sin. 1 John 1:9; 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21
You have been given God’s divine nature to walk in his ways. 2 Peter 1:3-9 (AWESOME!)
You are God’s children and co-heirs with Christ. Galatians 3:26-27; 4:6-7; Romans 8:14-17; 29-30
You are holy and set apart. 1 Peter 1:13-16
YOU ARE FREE! Galatians 5:1
When we believe that we are unworthy, dirty, impure, undeserving, or anything else, we are saying that Jesus wasn’t enough for us. Jesus is enough. He wipes us clean. He removes our sinful nature and gives us his spirit. Believe these truths about yourself!
As I was resting with God, I felt like God was calling me to write out what my life looks like when I rest in my own skin, when I am so confident in and in love with who God created me to be. Here’s what I came up with:
Playing ultimate Frisbee
Playing with/teaching children
Hiking
Sitting in my hammock
Reading God books
Playing with my siblings
Having a sweet tooth
Wearing dresses but not being too girly
Riding my bike
Having picnics
Worshipping while driving with my windows down
Star gazing
Having deep conversations
Staying up late to talk
Being goofy
Making mustaches out of whatever I can find
Singing!
Being with my friends at the Gathering Place Mission
Cooking and eating together
Playing all sorts of games
Taking care of Walter
Doing childcare at la iglesia
Leading small group at GBC
Having the best job ever (aka Working at Upbeat)
Hugging my kids at LBC
Giving hugs
Going to Sno Castle with my siblings
Playing mandolin, guitar and bass with Dad and Martin
Loving bluegrass music
Leading worship at LBC
Being fascinated by little things that God create…like bananas
Wow. What a beautiful list of things. When I read it, I see a beautiful woman created and loved by her beautiful Savior.
….That woman is me!
I want to challenge you, if you struggle with seeing yourself as anything other than how God sees you, to start claiming these truths for yourself. Live into them. Believe them. God absolutely adores you. He loves you. You are the apple of his eye. He created you just the way you are, and you are good!
