Well I just want to update you all on what my life is like here in Romania. Team Fuel has been blessed with the opportunity to live with a family. It is amazing to be able to live with a family here, they are so gracious and just a joy to live with. Their house is sort of like a duplex with us living on one side and the family living on the other. The parents, Gabby and Nalu, have given up their house and moved themselves and their 4 kids in with the grandparents who are on the other side of the duplex. So, we are blessed with having a small kitchen and a bedroom for all our stuff and a place to sleep. The girls sleep in the bedroom on two fold out couches while Collin and I sleep on the kitchen floor.
Our schedule usually follows this pattern: Get up at 7:30 for Quite Time, Breakfast at 9:00, Prayer time 11:00-12:15, Lunch at 12:30, Play soccer/ Frisbee with kids or house visits from 2:30-5:30, Dinner at 6:30, then spend time with our host family.
Our ministry time here is so much more than the three hours set aside each day. A large part of our vision here is encouraging and living with our host family. Gabby our host mom is an amazing woman of God that does so much for us and for the church here. She knows English and is our primary source of communicating with the locals. It has been such an honor to hear her testimony and how she got to where she is now. Her husband Nalu has been a constant help for us. His English is very broken but we are usually able to communicate to each other. All the English that he knows is what he has learned from American movies with Romania subtitles. Nalu is our cook and prepares most of our meals for us, this has given us the opportunity to try traditional Romania food and experience their culture through food. I do enjoy a lot of the food but they have such a heavy emphasis on vegetables that it is hard for me sometimes. Ha Ha, I am getting used to it though.
The other part of my ministry has been spending time with the kids. This is perhaps my favorite time of the day, while for others it is difficult to spend time with crazy kids that constantly jump on your back and always want your attention. I suppose that the reason I love hanging out with kids is because I still am a kid at heart and enjoy the carefree attitude that most kids have. Our time together is generally spent playing soccer, which is awesome! I am so thankful that I played soccer my entire life, it truly is the world’s sport. Over the coming year I am sure that I spend many hours playing soccer as a way of building relationships.
Other than that I am just living the dream.
