Hi all!! I apologize that I am a bit behind on blogging, but wanted to share that I am in Ukraine, safe and healthy!

I arrived in Lviv, Ukraine on Wednesday August 8th. The squad all stayed together in a hostel in Lviv for the first night and then we spit up to go to our ministry locations in different cities around the country!

This blog post will share mostly information of what this month will look like. So here are the basics…

Where am I? Rivne, Ukraine.

What do I do? This month we are paired with Salvation church, a Baptist church here in Rivne. The church offers English classes and we will teach English to people within and outside of Salvation church. Each member of our team gets to teach a class of a different level (mostly adults). I will teach the intermediate level speakers. The class consists of teaching English through simplified Bible stories. The classes are also intended to form relationships with the church. The classes will include introduction games and worship/ social time before and after the class.

Who is hosting us? Tania Martin and Tania Matrunchyk are two women within the church who coordinate the English classes. Tania Martin is an American who has lived in Rivne for 10 years working for this church. Tania Matrunchyk is a local Ukrainian and is passionate about teaching English.

Where do I live? Our team lives in a flat in the city of Rivne. We are in a cute neighborhood with a park behind us and little markets around us. We have 3 rooms, 1 bathroom, and 1 kitchen.

What do I eat? We sometimes eat out at restaurants, but more often go to the lovely grocery store about a 10 minute walk from us. Our host has cooked for us a couple of times and we have discovered Borscht! (a soup of cabbage and beets)

Currency? The money here is UAH

Transportation? We walk most places, but sometimes take the bus!

So far, we have been able to explore a little of the town seeing a park, the center market and a spot called the tunnel of love.

So these are the basics, stay tuned for my next post about what we did last week!
