Day 9 9-17-2012 Demolition and Drama

We spent this morning tearing down a small wall on the top of a roof. Other then smashing my thumb it was a very successful endeavor. The rest of the morning we spent a lot of time in what we call hurry up and wait mentality where we worked quickly when we had the supplies but had to wait for most of the morning for them. We then began too build the wall to keep the drainage pipe in place which has me mixing cement and keeping it from hardening then pass the bucket of cement up to Josh so he can spread it out to begin forming the wall. We were also trying to help set up for a night of fun with the kids in the community that the church put on called "Locos por Jesus" we had a lot of fun helping to keep the kids entertained. We finished both tasks just in time as the rain began to come down. we did a drama about the pressures of life and one girls struggle to decide between the world and Jesus written by claire we performed it to a Matthew West song called "Strong Enough." We had a lot of fun putting that together and performing it with each other. We came home just in time to eat cold spaghetti because the performance delayed an hour and it went till close to 9:30 before we finally made it back to the house. Yesterday was a very long day but was worth every bit of it.

Day 10 9-18-2012 Josh's Birthday

We were suppose to paint a wall today but the supplies were to expensive for the church so instead we spent the day back at the high school where we talked to two different classes telling them about american culture one of my teams favorite ministry opportunities we answered question after question of what america is like and finished by praying for the students loved every bit of it. I also got to chew on sugar cane basically it is kind of like sunflowers seeds in that you chew on it for a little while then spit it out. The texture was that of bark. We found out later that are afternoon was going to be free but our team finds things to do even during our "Free Time" So the girls began cleaning off our hosts roof for them a project they asked if we would do. Josh and I were going to head back to the church where we worked yesterday and seal up a couple of leaks that were still there but we didn't get two minutes down the road when it started raining so we headed home instead. Our team took the day as a sign that we needed to do some team bonding time so we all set and watched a movie together. Then we went out and grabbed Ice cream together we have started a tradition with birthdays in that we right out on index cards encouraging words for the one celebrating a birthday. So we read all 32 of those aloud and then made Josh share 32 things about his own life. Awesome day of team bonding and celebrating a birthday.
