New Delhi, India.
This is the month that I’ve been excited for the whole year! India…just seems mysterious and alluring in a way. The people, the culture, the landscape, all of it. We arrived here the first week of May to 95 degree weather at 2 a.m. Just imagine, no air conditioning, dusty roads, open air buildings, 100 degree weather (easy), Monkeys jumping from building to building, and peacocks squawking at wee hours of the morning. Not what you think of as alluring huh? Well, seriously, it’s just awesome here!
The culture is so different than anything that we’ve been in so far this year. People live very simple lives. Our ministry this month is to work with ASHA Mission which is an orphanage that has about 30 children from age 3 to 13. The children have worship and Bible study and prayer 3 or 4 times a day. I don’t mean how we think of children praying and worshipping, I mean, all out singing praises to God, eyes closed hands raised. I mean prayer time where all of the children pray fervently out loud for 15 minutes or more straight. Bible studies where they memorize God’s word. Man, I even get distracted during those times, but the kids are craving something deeper and more! They don’t have technology to distract them, they LIKE to sing to God and pray to Him 🙂 That’s so encouraging!!!
We were asked the other night by Justin (our team leader) to voice what we want to get out of this month of ministry. Some people had personal areas that they wanted to grow in, some had ideas for the kids that they wanted to see carried out during the month, I started thinking what I wanted. A few days ago God really pointed out some older ladies to me that sit outside the orphanage next door and probably chit chat and gossip haha. But I felt convicted to just reach out to them however I could and be Jesus’ love to them. So, I go out the first day to talk to them…I speak English, they speak Hindi. Haha FAIL. But not really, after a few days of going and saying all I know to say, “what is your name?” other people started coming up and hanging out with us. Yesterday there were like 10 people gathered around us white people. But it was so cool to expect God to do big things through that, and even if it’s just loving them, they now know that we’re Christians and hopefully that will be used to lead them in the direction of Christ, now or later 🙂

I love you and miss you all! Hope these blogs are keeping you sort of up to date on my trip! If not, PLEASE ask questions. I’d love to tell you more of what God is doing!
