So, here we are again. The end of the month: Month 2 Cambodia.  I still cannot believe that this is the last week of my second month on the race. It literally seems like yesterday we were boarding the plane in LA, but at the same time I feel like I’ve been here forever! Crazy how that works isn’t it?

I haven’t written many blogs this month. Maybe a writer’s block. It is different from last month here, though. It’s easier to settle into the “not normal” lifestyle that the World Race has. It’s not such a shock to ride around in Tuk Tuk’s (taxi’s pulled by motor bikes), to eat rice for every meal, or to be attacked with hugs and “hello’s” by 50 dirty children. Maybe this month has just been an easier transition for me. Whatever the case, now I want to tell you how the Holy Spirit has been showing Himself this month J

During this month, my team intentionally set aside time to worship God…free, uninhibited worship. Worship is definitely a big part of the World Race, but as a team we hadn’t done this before. What I learned though, is that freedom and a true connection with the Holy Spirit came only after our hearts were repentant. We do a thing called “feedback” here on the WR. It’s when people in our team, whom we have strong relationships with, will call out the things in us they see holding us back as people and as believers. It’s also a time of prophesy and encouragement! Once we learned how to love our friends enough to call out the junk in their lives, and learned to take the constructive feedback to heart, that’s when we were able to experience God like never before as a team!

We were prophesied over by another team that’s here from Australia and God spoke some important and uplifting truths into our lives through them! Perfectly relevant to each of us! I want to clarify again that “prophecy” is not this weird concept that I once thought it is. It’s speaking truths that God teaches us in the Bible over other peoples’ lives. It’s encouraging each other. It’s allowing the Holy Spirit (another concept that I never knew much about) to speak through me…in a non-weird way 😉

We also were able to hear the testimony of the pastor here. He was basically slave labor for the communists here in Cambodia back in the 70’s for over 4 solid years. He was only able to see his family once a year during that time. ALL, and I mean ALLLLL freedoms were taken away from them. Clothing choices, religion, business, what they wanted to eat, if they wanted to marry, Everything was taken away. But, now he praises God because that experience taught him so much. He is an inspiration and an example of how rejoice in the Lord always!

All of this to say, it’s been a wonderful month of service and learning for myself how to let the Holy spirit fill my life. I’m definitely still a work in progress, but that’s what this is all about J

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you: not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid.” Jesus speaking in John 14:26-27

“Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:26-28

“For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.” Romans 8:6
