Ministry update! Our team has been given the opportunity to serve the students at UCR (University of Costa Rica) for a total of six weeks! We are coming alongside a resident organization, CRU to spread the gospel & create a community for the students there.

At first- I struggled with going up to strangers my age & asking them if they’d heard about Jesus. Being the type of person who would rather be asked than do the asking- I am definitely being stretched to be bolder on a daily basis. The initial question of “do you know Jesus?” usually results in one of two outcomes. One; the student doesn’t speak English or at least pretends not to, to avoid talking about religion, or two; they are intrigued and are interested in learning more! We then exchange numbers and set up times to meet and disciple further in those times or at our weekly campus meetings with all CRU members. It’s still intimidating to walk up to perfect strangers but I feel no shame talking about the one I love most.

“If not us, who? If not now, when?” -John Lewis

I’m starting to grasp the urgency. Sharing our light with the world and not hiding it under the proverbial basket. It’s not enough for me anymore to harbor this gift that was so freely given. I have the opportunity to share this life or death gift! My capacity for grace is stretching and growing daily & taking the time to be intentional with every person around me has become a necessity. My job right now and forever is to love. These next 6 months have been blocked out- essentially free of distraction for us to do just that. At first, it was hard to shake the anxious mindset but now I see every day as a new opportunity to love. I’ve been given the beautiful opportunity to pour into these young adults that will set the course for the future of this country. They may just see themselves as college students now but they are so much more. Simple as that! I trust that Holy Spirit will guide my words and touch these young people in only a way that He can. It’s never about me, and it never will be. Nothing I do will change the world but through me, God can change someone’s entire world. That’s my heart!

It reminds me of home in a way, walking the campus- seeing the niches of students do their thing, loving it or hating it. It gets me excited about my future as a student! Bringing this light wherever my feet land includes school! Blessings on blessings these days.
