DEAREST FRIENDS AND FAMILY. . . Hello!

I hope this letter finds you well! I’m writing to you because in some way, large or small, you have made an impact on my life. So first off, THANK YOU for all your love, support, counsel and encouragement throughout the years. It has meant so much to me!

There have been some new developments in my life that I am so excited to tell you about! In the past year, I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Sociology, a minor in Spanish and certificates in International Studies and Conflict Resolution. Upon completion of my studies, I knew I wanted to see the world and make a difference in it before settling into a career. At first, I thought that might mean joining the Peace Corps, AmeriCorps or some other service organization that gave back to the community. Thankfully, I found something much better suited for me; something that I feel called to do.

This September, I will be embarking on a journey that will take me around the world with an organization called The World Race. This unique Christian non-profit takes people from the ages of 21-35 on an adventure around the globe to 11 different countries, most of which are developing, in 11 months. We will work together to serve “the least of these” and make a change for the better in the people’s lives we come across. We will be involved in building churches, working with non-profits and hospitals, fighting human trafficking, caring for orphans and the homeless, teaching English in schools, ministering through prayer, reaching out to prostitutes and drug addicts, feeding the hungry and more.

I will be traveling with about 50 people from country to country and we will be splitting off into smaller groups of 7-8 people upon arrival to work on different projects around the nation. (I even got chosen to be a team leader!) My squad and I will be going to Australia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Vietnam/Laos, India, Nepal, Kenya, Rwanda, Mozambique, Ukraine and Romania. I am beyond grateful for this incredible opportunity to see and serve God’s people all over the world. I know that I will be forever changed by this experience.

I would love for you to share in this trip’s mission with me! The reality is this trip goes way beyond our group’s travels. It needs a much larger team of not only goers (us), but senders (hopefully you!) Please consider being a sender by supporting us through prayer and contributing financially.

The cost of the World Race is $15,500. This covers all administrative costs, lodging, travel, food and general expenses. I have saved as much as I can myself by working full-time at Enterprise Rent-A-Car for almost a year as a Management Trainee while living at home with my family. So far I have reached my most recent deadline, but am still in need of $9,000. We are required to be fully funded by March 1, 2013. If you feel led to help out, you can do so online by visiting my blog at http://geenanohinek.theworldrace.org. Click on the “Support Me” link on the upper left side of the page and follow the instructions. If you choose to send a check, it should be made payable to Adventures in Missions, PO Box 534470, Atlanta, GA 30353-4470. Please include ‘Geena Nohinek’ in the memo line. $5 or $500, any amount makes you a partner in this ministry. Also, all donations are tax deductible!

Thank you for taking the time to consider partnering with me! It has meant the world to me that you have shaped and cared for me and been a part of my life all of these years. You continue to bless me. I will be writing about my experiences abroad on my blog, found above, each week and would be thrilled to share my journey with you!
