I am writing to you because I have been accepted to join an organization called The World Race. The World Race is a missions program that seeks to extend God’s love overseas and within the United States. It is a journey to 11 countries in 11 months to serve “the least of these” while amongst real and raw community. Our goal is to partner with local organizations in order to best meet the needs of each community. In order to make this possible I need your help, so I would like to extend an invitation to you.
Being a person who is passionate about science, medicine, and helping others, I enrolled at the University of Akron to pursue a pre-medical degree by majoring in Biology & Psychology. During my time at Akron I was fortunate enough to be involved with many activities that helped me to realize my love for travel and for serving the unfortunate. Whether through mentoring/tutoring Burmese and Nepali refugees, or by traveling to Thailand and South Africa to aid is volunteer missions, I have come to experience the joys of assisting others and sharing meaningful experiences with them. Over time, I have come to the understanding that God has been preparing my heart to dedicate my life towards pursuing a future that will incorporate both international ministry and international medicine.
Now a recent graduate, I have decided to take a gap year before going on to medical school to become a doctor. During this gap year I have the opportunity to be a participant in an Adventures in Missions program called The World Race. On this missions trip I will dedicate a year of my life to discipleship while committing to serve humanity across 11 Asian countries (seen above). Service on The World Race will look different from country to country and will include teaching English, doing construction work, helping widows and orphans, assisting women and children sold as slaves into sex trafficking, providing relief to the needy, and serving local communities in any way we are able.
My goal is to leave for The World Race on September 4th, 2015 but before I go I face the challenge of raising my financial support. The total amount I need to raise is $16,267. As I take this large step of faith, would you consider joining me as a partner in ministry by financially supporting me for $100 per month or some other amount?
