I have been on this journey for over five months now. I have seen mountains, oceans, jungles, villages, and even the occasional city. I have traveled by plane, bus, boat, scooter, and tuk tuk (small motorcycle driven cart- aka deathtrap). I have eaten fish eyes, squid, bugs, and ten other kinds of meat that I may never be able to identify. I have jumped off a bridge, and I have climbed a mountain. I have danced, and sang. I have sat in silence. I have seen the sunset, and felt the warmth of the sunrise. I have met men, women and children that I have changed, and many more that have changed me. I have seen healing, and been healed. I have felt farther from God than ever before, and experienced more tangibly his presence than I could have ever imagined. I have loved and been loved. I have been on this journey for over five months.
However difficult or inspiring this journey may have been thus far, I have not taken it alone. For many of you have been with me from the beginning. This is not a story I am writing by myself, but instead a work of community between those here and those back home. All that I have experienced would have been impossible without my friends, family, and supporters at home and abroad. It is through this process that God has taught me the true importance of interdependence, a thing we all too often do not celebrate. However, we are created not to write our stories alone, but instead side by side hand in hand with our creator and those he created. The World Race is about learning to live this out, so that we may further dwell within His kingdom of community.
However, this journey cannot continue without support both spiritually and financially. By January 1st I must have $3,500 dollars to be fully funded and complete the race. I have been continually amazed at the generosity of those who have been able to make this journey possible. With support, both spiritually and financially, I have been able to take part in a season of amazing growth and service. I look forward to sharing the rest of this story with you, as we continue to follow the path leading closer to our Father.
