hello friends!!
well, i’m sure you’ve all been on the edge of your seat waiting for my life update – so here it is!!
as we all know, COVID has effected pretty much every part of our lives, soooo my plans for october are gonna look a little different.
A few different options were presented to us, but after lots of prayer and consideration, I have come to the decision to pursue a Semesters mission trip with the World Race in January of 2021!
A semester trip is 3 months in length, and I will be serving in Africa in:
SOUTH AFRICA, SWAZILAND, AND LESOTHO
Although travel may still be restricted in January, I feel very at peace with this decision for now, and am content in doing whatever God has in store for me.
I’m still in the process of transferring to this new group, so I don’t have all the details yet, but here are some answers to some questions you may have!
Are you still fundraising? Does it effect your fundraising goal?
It does! My previous goal for the 11 month trip was $17,700, and now my goal for the Semester trip is $6,900.
I have currently raised almost $4,000, so just about $3,000 away from my goal! I plan to do a fundraising specific blog post pretty soon, so stay on the lookout for that 🙂
What are the differences in this trip vs. the 11 month one?
Basically just the length of time on the field!
All the ministry opportunities and lifestyle will be pretty much the same!
Disaster relief, evangelism, manual labor, children’s ministry, etc. will stay the same for the overall focus of the trip.
We will also still be living out of a backpack and living minimally for the elotted time.
What if this trip is cancelled or postponed in January?
Due to this time living in such a strange social climate, there is definitely a possibility in January that the international borders will still be closed. In this case, we will probably receive another email with a list of options we can choose between on how we want to proceed. I will probably make that decision once I get there, but usually the options consist of: choosing a different Adventures in Missions trip, even if we defer later into the unknown future, or withdrawing from the program and allowing requests for refunds.
