I need to interrupt this regularly scheduled blog for a quick technology update:

Before getting into this blog I first want to apologies for not posting as frequently as everyone would like. I am not being a slacker I promise – I have many blogs written but it seems technology and myself are at odds since being here. Computers that work just fine for everyone else go into “fatal errors” when I touch them. It has come to the point where it is actually quite comical. So my friends I will post some more but I do not wish to bombard you so I shall spread them out. Yes I to do see the irony that the media person is unable to make it work. Thanks for keeping up and being so supportive despite my computer lovelyness! I do believe that Thailand will be better.

So without further au du we now continue our regularly scheduled program..well blog that is:

A Story highlight of our time in Botswana

My favorite story of being here so far is the story of our frequent Taxi driver. Last Saturday four of us decided we did not want to take the combi (buss) back from town and instead took a Taxi. On a side note, a great thing about being a missionary is that when people ask what you do – or why you are there – I say “Im a missionary and volunteer serving in the community” – and it pretty much always leads into a spiritual discussion of some kind. It just happens naturally, as it should. So that is what happened this day. We all started talking with our Taxi driver about faith. He did not believe in God or good, he thought that if you did good things it was good because it made it easier to live with others. When he died he said his spirit would go live in a tree, no heaven or hell. He did own a Bible but only believed in certain parts of it. We had a good discussion about God and before leaving his cab I felt I should encourage him to read John as well as told him that this is not something that is ours to convince him of, just to share. God is real, and if you ask Him to show himself to you He will. Gina, one of my team mates who I was with prayed for him before we got out of the cab. She prayed that our friend (I know his name but I am not even going to attempt to spell it as I know I would butcher it) would have no peace until his will lined up with Gods will.

We said our good byes and went back to our home for the month.

The next day three other teammates drove up in a Taxi, and guess who was driving it? Yes indeed it was our Taxi drier friend. Let me take a minuet to let you know about the Taxi situation here. The town by which we are staying has many tourists who pass through due to Safaris and other attractions. As a result there are many Taxi drivers. If you even look like you might be thinking about wanting a ride somewhere there are 3 combis and 3 Taxi’s who have pulled over, when all you where doing was waving a fly away. So all this being said, it was odd to get the same driver twice. Our friend said he was unable to sleep the night before, he had not yet read John but was going to. Gina was the only one who was in the Taxi again that day.

Then yesterday (Tuesday) three other teammates drove up in a Taxi, and yes it was our Taxi friend who was driving the car! Gina was with them again, and she was talking with him about faith again, she asked him at the end of the ride (the ride back from town is about 15 min by car) when are you going to accept Christ? He said, I already did last night. I could not sleep I had no peace. He said he believed that Jesus died for his sins and he is God!

So awesome! Right?
