Sorry for such a late update. I have been in Haiti for two weeks now and Wi-Fi is not accessible unless I use a hotspot ( I guess that is a good thing).
Over these past few weeks we have been busy and have seen God work in some crazy ways, but before I get into that allow me to introduce you to my team. Meet my team leader Kirsten, she is one of the cutest 26yr. olds I have ever met. She is a bold, God loving, strong and passionate leader. Then there is Blake, he thought he was the only guy on our team for the longest time. He loves to share the gospel to those he runs into throughout the village and brings so much peace and joy onto our team. Taylor, a witty God fearing young lady. On our team we call her “mom”, since she has everything we need and on the days we don’t feel good she is the first to check up on us and fulfill our needs. Sarah, also called Kullen is the most compassionate, vulnerable human being you will ever meet. Jessica is a beast, she is confident and bold in all her decisions and in her faith, a girl I wouldn’t wanna mess with. Kasie is this gentle person, who has this joyful and crazy personality after getting to know her. Andrea, never fails to put herself before others in all things. Bailey, was the first person to welcome me into the team at the airport. She has such a welcoming smile and laugh that just brings you in. Evens is such a blessing to our team. He lives in Haiti so having him on our team and him informing us of all he knows makes us feel we have been here for so long. He is so patient. My team has been trying to learn Creole and all Evens does is laughs at us and repeats the word until we have mastered, he doesn’t give up on us. Oh and let’s not forget Nikki, this girl has such a personality and has us laughing until our stomachs hurt. All this to say I love my team, family, and Church “Life Seekers.” Can’t wait to continue making memories with these people.
Last week, was a tough week. It was I first week in Haiti and we were only working about two hours a day. It was nice to have a lot of down time and get to learn more
about my team and draw closer to God, but its nice to finally be doing hours worth of ministry work to please Gods kingdom. During that week I really didn’t have time to fully
process everything, until that Friday. I started getting homesick and really missing my family, that’s when I began to pray for comfort and energy. Through my prayers I began
that it is best to be constant in my prayers, and so I did. Throughout the week I had a crazy amount of energy at our VBS and community swims. To the point where I would go to bed super late, but still be able to wake up in the morning. My mind and my heart have definitely been brought to peace, I still miss my family, but I know that God will protect them and be with them, as for me. We worship a Good God, who hears our cry’s and our prayers, continue to cry out and lean on Him.
This week, was a busy week but, was so enjoyable. All week long we started our days early and would end later then usual. This week was a week I really needed. Our days
would begin with us going out and evangelizing to the communities around our home. Which definitely brought me out of my comfort zone, but was encouraged by my team members to approach with boldness, and so I did. This week I got to witness as four people chose to accept God in to there lives, which was the best thing ever. It’s crazy how God uses us to Glorify His Kingdom. This week I have learned a ton but two of the ones that I will always remember is “no matter how small or big you are, you’re never to young
to go out an glorify Gods kingdom.” My team and I have been serving along side one weeks teams ranging from the ages 12 to mid 40’s. Oh and lets not forget the families that run the organization and there children who are seven to 17. God can use you. Next thing is, “you are blessed and what you have is a blessing” as I spend most of my time with the community they continue to remind me of how blessed they are with some of the biggest smiles. I want an attitude like that. Now I have something else to be praying for.
I am looking forward to the next couple of week that I have here in Haiti and looking forward to the relationship that are starting to form. I know I may be miles away from y’all, my family and friends, but I would love to pray for each and every one of y’all. If you have a prayer request please send me a text on FaceBook messenger or DM me on instagram. Since we are on the topic of prayer I would love it if y’all would be praying for my team and I, that God will continue to remind us why we are here, it’s not a vacation getaway but to be the Hands and Feet of His kingdom. Love and Miss y’all!
