The Captain and His Son
Flying over solid ocean is an odd feeling. It’s kind of like putting your trust in a tin can in the sky not to drop you (I’ve watched too many movies), granted, many men with intelligence have put all they have into making and creating these amazing transportations but I’d still like to take a survey of how many people enjoy the feeling of flying over a huge untamed body of water. Not too many, if we are being honest. They either need to be medicated, intoxicated or become a believer and pray to God.
But when you step onto a plane you have no control. You don’t sit in the captain’s seat. You don’t know the ins and outs of the massive structure, you don’t know what the buttons do and why they are even there, you don’t know what the maps and navigation systems mean, it’s like another language really, and you don’t know what it takes to carry people’s lives. I give credit to those men and women. But I’d like to make a scenario.

Let’s say God is the Captain and you are flying on board. He has the controls, He knows how to navigate through the storms of life, it may be bumpy and you feel a little turbulence along the way or a lot of turbulence and wonder if you are going to survive, you may only have a tiny window to look out, He knows how to take off and land in any weather, no matter the situation. He knows and has the means to. The captain knows your destination and the purpose of why you are on the plane. You need to go somewhere and do something. Seems obvious. The captain knows that too, no matter if it’s in a military plane (they have many missions), emergency helicopters, domestic planes (flying to see loved ones, vacation, business meetings, etc..), international flights that cross land and sea to see a new land or whatever reason! He knows why you’re there. No matter the reason for the ticket the captain knows you have a purpose and you ultimately have to trust in the captain to get you there.

Now let’s throw a twist. Let’s say the captain bought your ticket! That’s right. No more worrying of how much you have to work to pay for that rather expensive ticket to that rather expensive place. You have a different perspective when you step on board. You know that this captain bought your ticket! I’d be so excited! I wouldn’t care where we were headed! And He got you first class! You eat all the food, watch all the shows, have a comfortable seat next to all the beautiful views of the sun rising and setting, landscapes and deserts, oceans and clouds. And there is not a care in the world for your safety. None.
As the flight goes on you start talking with the person sitting next to you, let’s call him Joe. You both strike up a conversation about “where are you headed?” “Where are you from?” Basic and powerful, Joe starts talking of how the captain actually got the ticket for him, the captain, who was perfectly in His element flying, had to land on earth for the first time in a LONG while AND he had to sacrifice His only son so He could take him back to where he was meant to be. With Him. Where was he from? An earth that was corrupt, evil and polluted. Where was he headed? To a new earth that is pure, good, divine, heavenly and wonderful! And along the way the captain is still flying and landing to pick up more passengers who would listen and believe that the ticket is real! The story is real, his story is real, the future is real.

The captain waits until all the passengers who are willing to go get on the plane. And He still lands to go get more passengers as they decide to accept the ticket! The passengers have learned to fly too, gaining more confidence with each new flight. What they don’t need, they let go of with help of the Captain who would carry the baggage anyway until you release it from your own grips.

You and Joe have a purpose together, along with all the others on board. To bring Jesus Christ to all the ends of the earth. Everyone has a different story to how they got on board but the Captain’s never changes.
“The Kingdom of God is like a man traveling to a far country… ” Matthew 25:14
“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater then the herbs and becomes a tree…” Matthew 13:31/32
“For the Kingdom of Heaven is like a land owner who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard.” Matthew 20:1

The WorldRace has me starting out on this journey to fly and land all around the world to “pick up more passengers” because their Heavenly Father loves them and wants to bring them to himself. And my team of 47 have known what it feels like to be given something we could never afford, the ability to fly with God and to be His hands and feet when He lands.

The take off made me nervous and a little frightened of the possibilities, but along the way it’s just me and Jesus. I’m trusting that He’s got me and no matter where we land. Whether in the slums or in the cities He’s already been there and made a way to bring His love and His Kingdom to people who need him:)

I know this has been a large amount of audacious analogies and it might seem a little far out there but I hope you caught the drift! Pun. ??

As I start the journey of blogging I hope you will subscribe to receive updates about what God is going to do in these countries and people! If you would also like to partner with the worldrace to keep me on the field for 11 months “picking up passengers” you can donate at the top of the page, please make sure you pray about it and feel lead to! 🙂

I love you all! God bless!:)
