When our squad was in Thailand we had team changes, as I have mentioned in a past blog I happen to be a new team leader! I couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls, they are random, unique, intelligent, hilarious, WILD (hint our team name), and have an endless passion for Jesus and each one of them have a servants heart. My teammate Mariah decided to do a question and answer blog with the team and put it to a blog. Here are a few scattered questions about our life on the race:)
Mariah:
*What is your favorite memory on the race so far?
-“That’s such a hard question, because there are so many. But probably, when God sent the butterfly through my window and spoke to me in Mozambique.”
*What has been one of the hardest moments on the race so far for you?
-“Probably the times when I have felt lonely, or misunderstood by people. God has really been breaking me down of needing affirmation from people, so he has allowed me to feel those things at times”.
*What are 3 words to describe your personality?
-“Hmm, probably genuine, bubbly, and compassionate”
*Do you have any party tricks?
-“Ha, I can wiggle my ears!”
*What is your greatest fear?
-“I would say my greatest fear is probably to be completely alone, and detached from my emotions and things that I love.”
*What are three of your most important qualities in a friend?
-“Probably for them to be real in all that they do, spontaneous, and love me for every part of who I am but still able to tell me like it is if need be. Ie; Keep it real.”
*If you could be any animal what would you be, and why?
-“I always like to say a combination of a horse and a tiger. I say horse, because of their free spirits, strength, and ability to stand alone, yet they prefer to be in groups or herds. A tiger, because they are just gorgeous and mysterious. Ha, does that count as two?”
*What is your current, favorite song?
-“That is so hard to answer, I literally like so many. Probably, shape of you by Ed Sheeran. Lol.”
*What is the first thing that you’re going to do when you get home?
-“Probably ask to get in a car and just DRIVE. I miss it so much. After tackling all of my peeps of course!”
Lauren:
*What is your favorite memory on the race so far?
-“When I received a toy lemur from one of the interpreters in Madagascar.”
*What has been one of the hardest moments on the race so far for you?
-“When I used a whole box of matches trying to light a fire in Swaziland to burn the trash, and some children came along to put out the fire, so that they could get some candy out of the bag. After that, the fire wouldn’t light back up again.”
*Do you have any party tricks?
-“I can lick my nose.”
*What is the first thing you are going to do when you get home?
-“I am going to cook all of the food for Thanksgiving, but I’m going to make my mom do all of the shopping, so that I can avoid the grocery stores.”
*What is one of the biggest things that God has taught you on the race so far?
-“That no matter how far away from him I feel, he is always there.”
*What is something that you can do at home, that you can’t do on the race?
-“Wear my cowboy boots, and ride my horses, and go anywhere all the time.”
*What animal would you compare yourself to, and why?
-“A llama, because they are awkward animals, and they spit at people which is kind of cool.”
*What is one of your pet peeves?
-“People who interupt me, and then ignore that they did it.”
*How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
-“Tall, graceful, and honest.”
Amy:
*What is your favorite memory on the race so far?
-“Playing truth or dare with your last team, because one of my team members was really funny.”

-“Confident, quirky, and intuitive
*What has been the hardest moment on the race so far?
-“When I poo-ed my pants in Indonesia.”
*If you could be any animal, going into battle, which one would you be?
-“An eagle, because it has the advantage of being in the air and it can fly over the battle and find the weak spots. It can also drop bombs, and take airplanes head on, and it also has a sharp beak, which can rip people to shreds.”
*What is your favorite current song?
-“Closer, by Life Church”
*Do you have any party tricks?
-“I can walk with my right foot twisted completely backwards”
*What is your greatest fear?
-“Probably the sea, because you can’t move out of the way if there is something in the water.”
*What are 3 things that you find most valuable in a friend?
-“They have to see me at my worst, and still love me regardless, they have to be loyal, and also easygoing”
*What is the first thing that you are going to do when you get home from the Race?
-“Eat some home cooked food! I want shepards pie, with lots of gravy, vegetables, and extra fries.”
*What is one of the biggest things that God has taught you on the race so far?
-“The power of prayer, even when I pray for the most ridiculous things, like praying for bottled water that we had run out of. When the uber pulled up that we were going to take, there was a bottle of water in the car.”
Megan:
*What is your favorite memory on the race so far?
-“There are so many, probably the first night we danced with the boys in Mozambique. Also probably Dungeons and Dragons, our first expedition.
*What are 3 words to describe your personality?
-“Quirky, curious, and caring”
*What has been your hardest moment on the race so far?
-“Having to start telling my team when their behaviors were triggering old hurts in my life.”
*If you could be any animal into battle, what would you be, and why?
-“A grizzly bear, because those things are massive, and once they start charging you, you’re screwed.”
*What is your favorite current song?
-“Lay my crowns down by Kirk Vernon.”
*Do you have any party tricks?
-“Um.. there is a Ted Talk for that..?”
*What is your greatest fear?
-“Giving up on God.”
*What are 3 of the most important things in a friend?
-“Ability and willingness to go deep, to go with the flow, and willing to go on adventures.”
*What is the first thing that you are going to do when you go home?
-“Probably start planning my next trip..”
*What is the biggest thing that God has taught you on the race so far?
-“That it isn’t about me, but it’s about God, and all of the awesome stuff that he’s doing.”
Gabby:
*What is your favorite memory on the race so far?
-“Shoot, picking one is hard. I love team times, when we end up just laughing our heads off, and meeting new people where they are in their lives.”
*What are 3 words to describe your personality?
-“Hmm, joyful, constant, and sometimes I act like a 12 year old.”
*What has been the hardest moment on the race so far?
-“Leaving places that we have stayed and ministries.”
*If you could be any animal going into battle, which one would you be, and why?
-“A tiger, because people are scared even just looking at them.”
*What is your favorite current song?
-“Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows..hehe”

-“No, I just laugh at everyone’s jokes.”

-“Dying in an airplane crash”.

-“Humility, humorous, and being there for you”
*What is the first thing you will do when you get home from the race?
-“give my mom a big hug, and eat homemade mac and cheese and cuddle my cat Drake.”
*What is one of the biggest things that God has taught you on the race so far?
-“There are so many things, probably having ears to hear what he is speaking, and eyes to see what he is doing, and seeking him in everything.”
Felicia:
*What is your favorite memory on the race so far?
-“The day with the elephants, when we went to go and spend time with them. It was so much fun.”
*What are 3 words to describe your personality?
-“Observant, genuine, and having integrity”
*What has been the hardest moment on the race so far?
-“the moments when I have felt lonely, and disconnected from the people around me.”
*If you could be any animal going into battle, what would you be and why?
-“A poisonous snake because they can move with agility, hide in very small places, and then when they bite, their poison will kill.”
*Do you have any party tricks?
-“no but I know how to make everyone have a good time.”
*What is your greatest fear?
-“Being abandoned, or left alone by everyone.”
*What are 3 most important things in a friend?
-“Having a purpose or a drive in life, integrity, and the ability to have fun”
*What is the first thing that you’re going to do when you get home?
-“Sit on the couch, and play with my animals
*What is the biggest thing that God has taught you on the race so far?
-“That he has made me unique, and that’s fine. I don’t fit in every situation, but I need to own exactly who he has made me to be.”
