Dear Africa,
Thank you for your beautiful people, thank you for your amazing food, thank you for your history, thank you for the abundance of animals and thank you for the intoxicatingly breathtaking landscape. I will always hold the memories of crowded markets, playing with kids in the street, teaching English, trying to see how close we can get to the monkeys, the glorious thunderstorms, the amazing pizza, the beautiful children and their giggles, the tribal dances and songs, the drums, the churchs, the prayer walks, door to door evangelizing, the laughs, the “toilets”, the hand washing of laundry, the goats, the chickens everywhere, the serious moments and the times of contentment of living in Africa in the midst of less comfort and differences in culture. Even though you can be scary, uncertain, dangerous, dirty, hot, and cruel sometimes, God has a plan for your people to follow Him in spite of the culture and traditions. Not to Follow Christians or missionaries but to follow and imitate Christ. It’s His Kingdom, not a nations, or another nations, but His alone.
Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross to save us, thank you for the many that have come to know you as their personal Lord and Savior, thank you for the healing’s you did for these people. Thank you for listening to your children, thank you for the many seeds planted, thank you for the opportunity to water their souls and thank you that one day in Heaven we will all see the increase.
And thank you to all the missionary partners at Beacon of Hope Mozambique, Adventures in Missions Swaziland and
O.M Madagascar.
The names of the organizations don’t show the individuals who live off of nothing but the support of others. Living for the cause of Christ through discipling and answering Gods call on your life. (Matthew 28:18) You have been a huge example in my life and in the lives around you. Thank you!
God I don’t want to forget their faces, I don’t want to forget the languages, the smells, the color and the their smiles. One day if not here then in Heaven! Africa you have taught me so much, I will cherish you in my heart always. As a first time missionary, thrown into Africa, I feel like I can take on the World! Here we come Asia!
African Proverb: Once your feet touch African soil you will return!
