5 am we are awakened by the lovely chirps of our wonderful baby chicks. (Note slight sarcasm) because besides the chirps and a distant rooster crowing its quiet and peaceful. Wonderful because my Father is dying to telling me something, and I can’t wait to hear what it is.

6 am quiet footsteps around the room, pages turning, teeth being brushed, just sounds of a normal morning.

7 am “mi chicas” the holler from momma letting us know breakfast is ready. (Usually Gallo pinto and coffee) sometimes we are treated with pancakes, those are the best mornings!
8 am momma Luz is now here, so is abuela (grandma), and tia (aunt) luzia. The wood gets lit and smoke feels the air another day starts. These are some of the best cooks, and a huge part of why they are so good is because they allow me to help.

9 am floors get swept and mopped tables and chairs get set up for the kids. We bike into town for more beans, ice, soap, anything, if need be.

11 am all the food is cooked kids start showing up from school they wash their hands in the sink outside and they get served a plate of food, when they are done eating they get a glass of juice then they brush their teeth and leave

12 pm we eat lunch and boy do they feed us.

1 pm we do some gardening if need be like shovelling trenches around the plantain trees so the water absorbs better, or we de sewed the chile bushes.

2 pm we rest, we talk to the youth kids here and build relationships. We get to know them and their struggles. They become family.

4 pm we go to the park to get wifi so we can check emails, facebook, and talk about posting a blog.

4:45 pm we decide since we are only a block away from Eskimo ice cream we might as well get some! (The main reason we walk to the park let’s face it)

5 pm we water all the trees(:

6 pm worship/team time this is were some of the most memorable laughs comes from and also the most tears flow. But this is where we became sisters!

7 pm supper and it’s usually with the most obnoxious yenner, the uncle we all learned how to love! Glad we did though because many laughs are shared at the table. (Mainly because he thinks we can all speak fluent Spanish)

8:30 pm put our baby chicks to bed and so are we!
