Restlessness
It’s like a fire, hot yet desired
It doesn’t burn you it ignites you
It pushes you to want more
And requires you to do more
It allows you to feel the deep desires of your heart
And gives you the drive to accomplish them
It’s a movement that teaches you its time to grow
Yet keeps you were you currently are
It’s wanted and uncomfortable
It’s good but can be bad
It’s easy yet terrifying
See the thing about restlessness is that secretly behind the burning desires and stirring of your heart, God is working. He isn’t only working but he is creating for you a future and a life that is greater than what we can imagine. I believe God gives us restlessness so that we know he is a work and that he is preparing our hearts for what he has in store down the road. If restlessness did not exist we would simply be stagnant in our waiting and have no desire for growth or movement towards what is next. So yes, restlessness is hard and sometimes torturous. But, remember God uses it to prepare us and make us ready for his good and perfect will. And I can promise you that he is faithful until the end and will not leave us restless forever.
“Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.” Psalm 62:5-6
