We have had a team change.
Introducing Team SHEMA!
Shema is a Hebrew word that means hear and obey. We as a team decided on this name because we desire to be a team that hears and obeys or puts into action what the Lord speaks to us. There is a video made by the Bible Project that tells the definition of our team name beautiful; please watch:
Now to introduce to you the new crew!!!
First up…
Jack: our fearless leader. I say fearless because Jack is actually fearless, even when crossing a Vietnamese street with 50 motos coming right at him. Jack leads our team with strength and grace and always seeks the Lord first. He makes sure that every voice is heard and always strives for unity. Jack has a very big sense of adventure which postures our team to be very adventurous in all that we do. Due to this adventurous side, next month, when in Africa, I have a feeling we will end up in the bush on a very long, but fun adventure. But, no matter, its going to be amazing!
Kamiren: As Lindsay says, “Efficiency expert.” I agree completely. Many of you know Kamiren, as she was also on Team Hesed with me. We have a feeling we will be finishing the race together, WOHOO!! Kamiren is our treasurer and altogether organizer. Without KamKam we may all just fall apart. She gets us from place to place on time and in one piece. Kamiren leads with boldness and strength and always points us back to the reason, Jesus. It has been great living with Kam these first five months, I can’t wait for six more 🙂
Daniel: Worship Leader/Guitar Expert. Daniel plays the guitar beautifully and gracefully, he is one of those people that make it look easy. Daniel is one of the most servant hearted people I have ever met. He is always ready to hit the ground running and get down to business. His enthusiasm for loving people is contagious!
Madi and Andy: Our lovely married couple! THEY ROCK!! Madi is one of the sweetest most gracious people I have ever met. Madi loves people where they are and doesn’t expect anyone to be anyone but themselves. Madi is someone you can talk to and know she is listening intently because she cares. Andy, her partner in crime is awesome too. Andy is one of the wisest people I have ever met. He leads with wisdom and boldness. Andy is also a goofball and is constantly pranking us or anyone around us. They are an amazing example of what a marriage looks like when it is surrendered to God. They have a constant yes in their spirits and follow, wherever the Lord leads.
Lindsay: our firecracker. There is no other name that sums this girl up. She is sassy, goofy, dependable, and fun. Lindsay walks in vulnerability with strength and grace and it is beautiful. Lindsay is inquisitive and asks the hard questions. Her hunger to know God and His word is contagious.
That is Team Shema! We have been in Vietnam for about a week and a half now teaching English and loving everyone around us in hopes of showing them Jesus. We have about a week and a half left and then we head to Ethiopia, AFRICA, WOOHOO!!! We are SO excited. While in Africa we will be doing Unsung Heroes. This essentially means that we will be on our own, traveling throughout the country in search of contacts, or future hosts, for future World Race Teams. I am sure this first month in Africa will be one packed full of adventure, laughter, growth, and family.
I am so excited to see how God is going to use Team Shema to shape me further into who He has created me to be! Its going to be SO GOOD!
Please continue to pray for Team Shema as we go into this new season as well as Team Hesed as we all part ways into new teams. The goodbye was hard but we all knew it was going to be great!
Thank you for your continued prayers and support!
Love,
Gabbie 🙂
