Hello my darling!
I love you dearly. I don’t know you quite yet, but I know that you exist. I know that you are beautiful. I know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. I don’t know what you’ve been through or what you’ve seen during your short little lifetime, but I know that you are strong. I know that you are resilient. I know that you love recklessly and without abandon. I know that you have a heart for worship and worship with a loud, abounding voice. This is one of my favorite things about you. I know that you are active and full of energy. I know that you are strong-willed and will achieve anything and everything you put your mind to. I know that your laugh is contagious; it is loud and unending. This by far is my favorite thing about you! I love when you smile. I love the depths of your imagination and creativity. I love your kind and gentle spirit, yet your spunky sass all at the same time. I love your selfless heart; always putting others first. I love that God is your number one. I love that you share Him with everyone and anyone that will listen or not; you still tell them. I know that you are okay with being unique and won’t ever let anyone change you. You are confident and secure in who God created you to be and you will not waver. Oh my dear, I love you dearly.
I don’t know when I will physically have you but I can promise you that I will pray for you and prepare to be the best Mommie ever while I wait for your arrival. But until I meet you remember my beautiful, that you ARE:
LOVED
WANTED
WORTHY
STRONG
COURAGEOUS
BEAUTIFUL
ENOUGH
SMART
WONDERFUL
Baby, I love you with every ounce of my being. I promise that I will continually put God first so that I can be the best mom ever and love you well. I promise that I will teach you everything I know. I promise that I will always kiss you goodnight and tuck you in. I promise that I will kiss every booboo you have and help you get up when you fall down. When you’re older, I’ll teach you how to be a young lady and take care of yourself. I’ll teach you how to drive; or maybe your dad will if he is better, but I doubt he’s better ;). I’ll teach you everything I know and rely on God for the rest.
I pray that right now wherever you are that you grow to know and understand how wide and long and high and deep the love of Christ is for you. I pray that you dream big dreams and pray big prayers. I pray that you remember and know in your heart that you are the daughter of a King. I love you! I’ve always loved you and will always love you. I can’t wait to meet you.
Love,
Mom
This letter is inspired by a beautiful little girl that I have had the honor to get to know and love these few short weeks in Thailand. The very first night we arrived at the girls home, Jum-Ji bounced her way into my heart. Kayla had the opportunity to walk the girls home from school on the day we arrived, and she returned to tell me a story of a little girl that had lost her shoe in the river due to a downpour of rain they had been caught in. As she relayed this hilarious story of how this little girl jumped into the river, clothing, backpack and all to retrieve her shoe, I knew she was going to be a blast. I just didn’t quite anticipate how much I would fall in love with her. Her laugh is contagious and her smile beautiful. She does have a heart for worship and sings with a loud, passionate voice. She runs faster than most and is full of so much energy. She is beautiful beyond belief. I hope to one day have a daughter just like her. Jum-Ji, you have stolen a piece of my heart and I know I will never get it back. As I grow to become a wife and eventually a mother, I will continue to pray for you as if you were mine. I will continue to keep you in my thoughts and have faith that God is using you in big ways. God has big plans for your future. Keep living a life of whimsy my sweet Jum-Ji. I love you dearly!
Love,
Gabbie
Thank you so much for reading this blog. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. Please continue to pray for the girls we are loving on this month and the staff that loves on them when we leave. Pray that Jum-Ji becomes a strong, courageous young woman that does great things for the Kingdom of God.
