Hello everyone,
Sorry for the lack of updates and communication, Wi-fi is not really a thing out here in Botswana!
We arrived here in our little town village called Tsabong, on March 12.
Where we are staying for the next 2 months is right in the middle of the Kalahari desert–aka the fifth hottest desert in the world.
We are living behind a church called the Dutch Reform Church Botswana.
Our living conditions are super great! We have two trailers we share with another team in which one is for sleeping and the other for cooking our own meals. Praise the Lord for running toilets and showers!
If we need anything we can make about a 30 minute walk into the nearest little town, but most things are available there grocery wise.
The currency here is called Pula.
The languages most frequently spoken here are Setswana and Afrikaans, with a little understanding of English.
I have a new team, The Swans, who I have been given the opportunity to lead during our time here in Africa.
We are working with Rev. TC, however our ministry is super unique in the fact that he has given us freedom to make it whatever we want.
So after lots of prayers and being educated on the culture my team and I set up a vision to: Leave a lasting impact and empower the surrounding communities with love and redemption from Christ.
Also, every evening about 50+ kids show up at our gate and we get the opportunity to love on and play with them–it is such a huge joyful blessing!!
Most people here are Christians, however due to many cultural norms their lives don’t always reflect the love and joy of Christ.
Many families are left broken and children mental growth is hindered because of this.
I hope to blog again soon and keep everyone updated as much as possible, but wifi is pretty rare to find and ever rarer to get it to work.
Just know that I am doing well and absolutely in love with the life my Father has given me here in Africa. I am filled with so much joy from the Lord as I get to love on and minster to people in our village.
Please continue praying for my team and I, that we would not grow weary and have enough strength to finish the rest of our time here well.
Also be in prayer for open hearts for the people of Tsabong as we continue to love on them and hopefully impact their future lives with Christ.
Much love to all,
Gabbi 🙂
